Woodturning Online is the creation of Dennis Daudelin. As a turner and frequent web surfer, he discovered so much valuable online information about turning that it became difficult to keep track of it all. This web site is desiged to organize and make available much of that information for the turning community. Dennis shared his idea and a protype with his friend and fellow turner, Richard DiPerna, who immediately joined the effort.

Dennis Daudelin is an AAW member and a member of his local AAW chapter, the Central New England Woodturners (CNEW). Dennis is also the webmaster for the CNEW club.

Dennis is an active turner and enjoys turning all types of wood into all types of shapes. He started turning after buying a Sears tube lathe at a yard sale and taking a bowl turning class from Beth Ireland. Most of Dennis' ideas and techniques have come from members of the CNEW club which has been a rich experience for Dennis. All of the members freely share their knowledge and are one of the most friendly groups Dennis has known. He has also taken other classes to develop his turning skills. In the fall of 2002, Dennis along with his friend, Richard DiPerna, traveled to Pennsylvania to take a woodturning class with David Ellsworth. Here Dennis learned to use the side grind bowl gouge which he now finds indispensable. In March 2003, Dennis and Richard traveled to Vermont to spend a weekend with Johannes Michelsen learning how to make wood hats. They returned with "hats in hand" and lots of new skills, including the special tools and grinds that Johannes developed to turn amazingly thin pieces.

Dennis gives away many of his turnings to friends and family. He also sells some of his turnings in some local galleries and gift shops.

Richard DiPerna has been a wood working hobbyist for more than fifteen years, and has recently moved almost exclusively into turning. Richard is an AAW member and a member of his local AAW chapter, the Central New England Woodturners (CNEW). The members of CNEW have been a great inspiration and source of help as he has worked to learn and to improve his turning skills. An introductory course with Beth Ireland and later courses with David Ellsworth and Johannes Michelsen, described above by Dennis, provided a weatlth of new techniques and perspectives that will provide years of continued learning.

After years of working in limited space, he built a larger new shop with space for all his equipment, and a few photos can be seen on the web at the Lista cabinets web site.

Many other people have contributed to Woodturning Online. It is impossible to mention everyone here but without their hard work, dedication and interest, this web site would not exist. I thank them for all of the efforts!
