Furniture Most turners have seen beautiful furniture made with wonderful spindles. I have seen tables, chairs, bed posts, and many other spindles. I've also seen 1/2 spindles used as trim on many pieces of furniture like dressers and cabinets.
So, don't dismiss making furniture if you want to make something with turning in it!! | | Turning a miniature stool by Alan Liland | In this wonderful tutorial, Alan shows us how to make a small ~6" turned wood stool. This is a great project for people who love miniatures and also for people that want to "practice" before making a full sized model.
Alan makes what for many people is a complex 3D project into a simple set of steps resulting in a great project. I hope that you give it a try! |
 | | Four Poster Bed Plans by U-Bild Plans from Woodcraft | This is a set of plans to make a four poster bed. The plans have traceable diagrams and the bed can be sized to fit twin, full or queen mattresses.
The four corner posts must be turned and the foot cross bar is turned too! This is a very nice design and although you have to pay for it, it's really inexpensive!! |
 | | Make your own Four Poster Bed by Shopsmith | In this project, Shopsmith does an excellent job of showing all the aspects of making this four poster bed including the turnings for multi-piece tall spindles at the corners. They give full parts lists, and drawings!
If you've ever considered making your own four poster bed then this is one project worth peeking at!! |
 | Turning a Triangle Stool by Tom Rennie | | In this project, Tom explains the historical nature of stools and then shows how me makes one using a manual lathe. It's fun to learn more about the history of the stool and to see how Tom makes one! |
 | A Four-Post Turned Chair by Tom Rettie | | In this project, Tom shows us how he makes a chair similar in design to those made in the 14th to 16 centuries. Tom uses a homemade flywheel treadle lathe keeping in tune with the time period. This is a wonderful Renaissance piece and a great project to make. |
