Making a Turned Cowbow Hat

Page 3

I was treated to another new "fear" experience as I attempted to true
the length of the blank.

Guilio pauses to give me a few pointers and a rest. The brim is just
starting to take shape.

Since our heads are oval, not round, Guilio measures me in both
directions for my hat size.

Now I'm into it and the shavings are coming off like butter while the
now "liberated" water in the wood cells runs down my bowl gouge and arm.

Getting close, we pause to measure the outside, making allowance for the
final inside size.
