Woodturning Online was created by Dennis Daudelin in 2003 when he developed a prototype web site to share turning information he was discovering on the Internet. Dennis shared his idea and a prototype with his friend and fellow turner, Richard DiPerna, who immediately joined the effort. From that simple start, Woodturning Online has grown to become one of the most visited wood turning information sites in the world.
After a dozen years of working with Dennis to build Woodturning Online, Richard has retired. Dennis is now the sole editor of Woodturning Online. Dennis is also the publisher of More Woodturning Magazine--he took over this position when Fred Holder retired in May of 2015. Click here to visit the magazine and see a free sample edition
Dennis Daudelin is a long-time computer geek having worked for most of the big northeast computer companies before starting his own computer company in the late 1980's. After selling his company, Dennis took up woodturning for fun. It turned into a production job for a while, supplying salad bowls to the Worcester Craft Center, but wound down as he moved to Cape Cod for the summers and Sarasota, FL for the winters.
His current turning passions are segmented turning, miniatures, and household items. Dennis has been a member of several turning clubs in Massachusetts and Florida, and has presented at woodturning conferences across the country.
Through the years, he has also kept his fingers in the technology world by building web sites for small businesses and learning to program applications in the computer language: php and the database application: mysql.
Dennis and his wife Lyn became full-time Florida residents when they moved to Lakewood Ranch, Florida in early 2014.
