Many of us will conduct demonstrations and perform public speaking for our clubs and sometimes even outside organizations. This section contains some helpful tips on how to be successful.

The Art of Critique
By: Jim Christiansen
In this AAW reprint, Jim tells us how he approaches a critique, his goals and his process. From this Jim provides us with his checklist with consideration to a turner's skill set (beginner, intermediate and advanced). Jim says, "Effective critique provides us with a way to see our work through the eyes of others and to develop a heightened sensitivity for subtle elements of quality design. The process can also help us become aware of new ideas and possibilities in our work."

Planning and Presenting a Successful Demonstration
By: Frank B. Penta
In this article, Frank shares with us many valuable tips on how to have a successful demonstration. He even provides a check sheet which will help you be organized for your demo. His "some do's" and "some don'ts" are really wonderful. This should be mandatory reading for anyone performing a first-time demonstration.
