New from Penn State Industries
Barracuda 6-Jaw Lathe Chuck
Penn State Industries has just released a new scroll chuck which has six jaws. I believe they are the first vendor to introduce a six-jaw chuck.
They have created this chuck to reduce the spacing problem that you have with four-jaw chucks when you spread the jaws wide to accommodate a large diameter turning base. Typically you get a small gap between the jaw and the wood in the center of jaw such that only the edges of each jaw touch the wood. With a six-jaw chuck, you get more surface area grabbing the wood.
The chuck is compatible with 1 1/4" x 8 TPI and has an adapter to fit 1" x 8 TPI lathes. It can grip outside tenons of 2 1/2" to 3 1/4" and expand into inside mortises 2" to 2 3/4".
The list price for the six-jaw Barracuda chuck is $99.95.For more information or to order, click here
