New from Advanced Lathe Tools
Finial Tool Rest
Advanced Lathe Tools has just released a set of new finial tool rests. The tool rests were built after being requested by Joe Meirhaeghe.
There are two models, one for standard 1” banjos and one for mini and midi lathes with 5/8” banjos. When you order one of these tool rest, Steve Sinner will cut the standard posts to the length required for your particular brand of lathe before shipping. The mini/midi posts are all 4 7/8” tall, bottom of post to top of rest.
Each rest has a 3/8” case-hardened top rod bedded in and welded to a 5/8” support beam. The rests may be used either right or left on the banjo. Even the smallest hands will easily be able to wrap around the rod and beam to allow finger support of a delicate finial. The groove formed by the top rod bedded into the support beam makes an ideal prop for a gouge-stabilizing thumb.
The mini/midi rest is $50.00, and the standard size is $55.00.
These new finial tool rests are not yet on the Advanced Lathe Tool's web site but you can reach Steve Sinner at:
