Canes, walking sticks, and even hiking sticks all fall into the same category of long spindles. They can be decorated in many ways from carving to spirals and can have handles or not! No matter how you envision your long stick, turning a spindle of this length takes a good steady hand and preferably a steady rest.
These are great projects since everyone can use them!
