At the beginning of every month, I produce a list of the woodturning videos that were published on YouTube in the previous month. This list is built from data that I have extracted from YouTube via the YouTube Data API. I began collecting data at the beginning of 2016. I run my data extraction program 3-5 times each month, then ensure that the videos captured are correctly classified as 'woodturning' or 'so weird that I wonder how the search can return that'. After that, I assign the woodturning videos to categories based on the subjects of the videos. Along the way, I also capture information

July 18, 2018 · 374 views

This is episode 2 of my Richard Raffan Turning Boxes book review in this video I'll be discussing the techniques that I learned from the book on how to make turning stock from Green Timber and rough turn boxes for drying to finish turned later. It's very similar to rough turning bowl blanks. I'm not a professional Turner this video is me explaining the things I learned from the book, and not a how to. This is meant as an inspirational and entertainment video. Richard Raffan Turning Boxes exercise (1st book review in series)
By: John Baker
July 11, 2018 · 751 views

Thought I would talk a little bit about education and work an exercise from the latest book that I just finish reading which was Richard Raffan 'Turning Boxes'. Which was practicing by turning solid forms that will give practice on making clean cuts and can be used as silhouettes for later reference. I know it's a little more of a vlog than what my normal videos are I hope you don't mind and take away something. 5 minute goblet challenge https://youtu.be/hQY5C6hZpr4 I'm not a professional Turner this video is me explaining the things I learned from the book, and not a how to. This is meant as an inspirational and entertainment video. As well as giving some information on where to find books and other resources to further your education. Tool Review for Jamieson torque aresting handle
By: Lyle Jamieson
April 03, 2018 · 678 views

This is the heart of my hollowing system. The handle supports the cutting action and prevents catches or twisting and torqueing forces. This allows the fingertip control I want for easy, accurate, and safe hollowing. Please see my website for all the resources and tool store. Every tool listed has more information details. See not only the right tools but tips and techniques on how to use them. I have archived my articles written for publications and each of my newsletter broadcasts have all the Q&As listed by topic and indexed table of contents. Don't forget to subscribe here for the YouTube videos. Please support my sponsors Mike Hunter tools and Doug Thompson tools. https://lylejamieson.com

A New Tool Rest Under the Sun!!
By: RickTurns
November 08, 2017 · 10,849 views

The Double 9 D is a new style of tool rest...a single rod of 1' steel stamped into a shape with two 90 degree bends. I test it out on bowls and spindles. 1/5/17 - Joe just released a new video where he's using the Double 9 D to turn a bowl. Here's a link to that video: http://bit.ly/2E9xjJn Like all tools, the Double 9 D has its areas where it excels and areas where it doesn't; if you'd like to skip all the detail on what I tested, advance to position 16:26 in the video for my summary of the Double 9 D's good points.
