In this episode I borrow an idea from my friend, The Wood Yogi, to build mounts for three tools. I only show one of them, but the process is basically the same for all. Because of many questions and requests to see my log holder and how I made it, I made this short video showing how it was put together. This is not a 'how to' video that shows how to make this log holder. Operating a chainsaw can be dangerous and may require the operator to take lessons from an experienced person. If you are NOT sure about using a chainsaw DON'T.

Circle jig for LARGE bowl blanks!
By: Bryan McMinn
March 30, 2016 · 1,194 views

A bandsaw circle cutting jig with a lazy susan added for dealing with extra large and heavy bowl blanks. Here is a litte background to give some perspective on the video and to answer some viewers questions. 1. The faceplate used for mounting the wood to the circle jig is a 1/4' thick piece of plywood that I cut to fit the diameter of the hole in the lazy susan. Then you can just match the pre drilled mounting holes to match which ever lathe faceplate you are using. It is not a necessary thing to do but it will keep you from drilling more holes into the wood than necessary. 2. The sizing

A Jig to Cut Corners Off of a Turning Blank
By: Dave's Woodshop
January 31, 2016 · 2,246 views

This video demonstrates how to build a jig that enables you to cut off the corners of a woodturning blank and still retain it's balance. Removing the corners before rounding the stock speeds up the rounding off process, reduces the need to sharpen cutting tools as often, and reduces the amount of waste in the form of shavings that must be cleaned up.

Quick and Easy Pen Blank Drilling Jig
By: Barry's Workshop
January 14, 2016 · 11,147 views

This is a quick project that I made to hold pen blanks while drilling them for woodturning. I wanted something that was quick and easy to use, but would consistently hold the blanks securely in place with one hand while I operate the drill press with the other hand. This Drilling Jig was made with a scrap piece of construction grade lumber and a cheap butt hinge. I turned the handles on the wood lathe with a skew chisel. music by audionautix.com Subscribe: http://www.youtube.com/subscription_center?add_user UCYrXvMdKbXYtONur3rnRHcg

At first, I thought that it was too simple to do a video on but then I reconsidered due to how dangerous a bandsaw can be. So for a bit of bandsaw safety, here it is. BTW, if you need a 1.25' x 8 tpi bolt and nut, search for A193B7. Mine came from FMW Fasteners. Good turning. Pen Blank Cutting Jig
By: RJBWoodTurner
September 03, 2015 · 10,096 views

I'm always looking for ways to speed up slow processes in my shop. I recently needed to make a large number of blanks and decided to eliminate the process of marking the tube lengths on the blanks. I modified an older jig with markings and a stop block to allow me to cut blank after blank to the perfect length without having to size them with a tube. Its a real time saver. Pen Tube Painting Jig
By: RJBWoodTurner
September 22, 2014 · 7,988 views

When you turn acrylic, if the acrylic blanks are somewhat opaque, the brass tube can show through your work spoiling the overall look of the pen. One way to improve the look of the pen it to paint the tube a similar color to the blank prior to gluing it into the blank. I needed a way to hold a pen tube while I applied acrylic paint to it. This is a down and dirty jig I made to help me accomplish that task. It allows me to paint the entire tube, leaving no finger prints, and allow it to dry without messing up the paint job. Lathe Stock Centering Jig
By: RJBWoodTurner
April 24, 2014 · 6,863 views

I needed a jig to help me properly center both round and square stock on my lathe. Occasionally when driving the spur center into stock, the stock will split. I also want to attempt inside out turning and the first step involves taping pieces together to shape the inside of the pieces then flipping them around and gluing them up for the final turning. there is no way that I could drive a spur center into pieces that are taped together and expect the tape to hold. This simple jig makes using a spur center for inside out turning possible. It also guarantees perfectly centered pieces every time.

This is a 2 sharpening jig for the Ellsworth type deep fluted gouge. See my website: www.eddiecastelin.com for more. It's best made from a piece of water pipe, but if you can't do that, a piece of schedule 80 plastic will do. See my website: www.eddiecastelin.com for more. I added a revision to this video so you can stop it at the end and print a picture of the sketch. Just hit pause and then file, print. You should be able to get the sketch at the very end.
