Nature's colours only this time.....as I use a bowl saver to maximise some gorgeous elm burr. Please be aware that woodturning is a hazardous activity. These videos are only intended to show you what I do - they are not tutorials. Since I started making these videos in 2017, I have been lucky enough to receive the support of some manufacturers with materials to use in my videos. Since May 2018, Chestnut Products have provided me with stains, an iridescent paints sample set, lacquers and waxes. I'd like to thank them for their kind and generous support. Martin Saban-Smith has provided me with a sample set of Intrinisic Colours. All other products and tools, unless where indicated, have been bought from suppliers at retail prices. Products mentioned in my videos are for information purposes so that viewers know what I have used.

Final Woodturning Matching Green Cored Bowls
By: As Wood Turns
January 25, 2019 · 2,116 views

http://www.AsWoodTurns.com I took a training class at Craft Supplies almost two years ago. During the class, I did a couple of coring projects with the Kelton McNaughton Center Saver System. At that time, I cored two sets of matching bowls from sycamore. I then painted the rough bowls with Tree Saver Green Wood Sealer, brought them home and let them dry. They are definitely dry now - I don't need to weigh them. A viewer asked a question, 'How to you remount a cored bowl that does not have an original center'. A perfect excuse to rescue those bowls from the drying rack. In this video, I used

#45 McNaughton Center Saver
By: Austringer Creations
April 03, 2018 · 192 views

I got a new tool a couple weeks ago that I've been looking at for several months. A coring system allows you to turn three or more 'nesting' bowls from the same block of wood, each one a bit smaller than another instead of the insides ending up as shavings wasted on the floor. There are three major systems available: the McNaughton Center Saver ( 359), the Oneway Easy-Core (about 725 for comparable components), and the Woodcut Bowl Saver ( 397). The McNaughton seems to be much more versatile than the other two offerings, allowing the turner to vary the shape of the cut in bowls, even permitti

Jerry on maximum coring
By: Nubsnstubs
August 10, 2017 · 312 views

Last year or two, I was loaned a NcNaughton Coring system, brand new still in the box never used yet so I could learn how to core, then teach the owner of the system how to core his blanks. Somewhere along the line, I discovered that I could get multiple pieces the same size if I started my core from the OD on all pieces. The next day of course, I found a link describing that technique. So, what I'm showing here is the results of getting about 3 very large pieces, and two others that could be called nested. The cores are not professional at all, but instead of getting just one or two pieces, I got 5. I'm posting this for a guy named Jim from another of the Woodturning sites I belong to..

Wood Turning: Using the Screw Chuck to make a cored set of Bowls Blanks
By: Turning Round
August 05, 2017 · 970 views

Today on Turning Round we are going to talk about the screw chuck and the McNaughton coring system. I had a friend ask me about the screw for his chuck and how to use it. So I thought that is a good question to answer in a video. I have also been turning a bunch of cottonwood from a tree that I got for free from the local classifieds. It is a huge tree and I have been turning the blanks and make bowl set out of them from the coring system.

Large Easy-Core Coring Systems- 24' EASY-CORE CORING SYSTEMS The Easy-Core Coring System is comprised of two main parts: Base Set Knife Sets Base Set The Base Set needed is determined by the swing of the lathe. The swing is the distance from the middle of the spindle to the bed multiplied by two (i.e. a 2436 lathe has a 24' swing and therefore requires a 24' Base Set). Any size lathe from 16' to 26' swing (with flat bedways) can be accommodated with the Easy-Core Coring System. A Clamp Block (packaged separately) is included with the Base Unit. This will also vary from lathe to lathe. T

Coring A Bowl Woodturning
By: Peter Stewart
March 14, 2016 · 9,127 views

This video shows how I cored a large piece of American Elm recently. The coring system is from oneway (not a sponsor :P ) and has a variety of different sized curved knives to cut different sized bowls. I was able to get 3 good sized bowls from my piece of wood and a small chunk from the center. Using a coring system is great for wood with really spectacular grain. It lets you get the most from your wood. -------------------------------------------------- My website: www.peterturnswood.com ----------------------------------------- To see my vlog and follow-up channel, go to my main

JoHannes shows how to use the new Coring tool, its is the redesigned Quick Core and is a much more powerful tool so we also renamed it 'MagnusCore' the strong name reflects the strength of this tool. Still has the quick usability, no set up no gated rests replacing the normal tool rest, just pick it up and use it. The under arm butt end and the drop handle stabilizes the tool sufficiently for cores up to 13' diameter, easy to use, when applied the way Hannes does in this video.

Coring bowls with the McNaughton and Oneway Easy Core Systems - Part 2 of 2

September 17, 2013 · 24,282 views

I had two bowl blanks that were very nearly identical so I thought they would make good subjects to show both the Oneway Easy Core system and the McNaughton coring system in action under very similar circumstances. I broke the video down into two segments with a total run time of 53 minutes. I am afraid I forgot to add the 'Page Turn' transitions to this segment so there are several abrupt scene changes. I found the video of Dale Bonertz demonstrating the McNaughton system. It was the Rocky Mountain Woodturning Guild: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v mS2yIb0HAU4
