Winging It
By: Brian Havens
May 23, 2015 · 14,322 views

Up until now, we have been primarily focused on the tip of the gouge. See why that is, and see how, when, and why we can use the rest of the cutting edge and even cut with the wing! This video brings us to the end of the series on cutting, since at this point we have thoroughly covered my two pet principles: cutting angle and fulcrum. This is more of a beginning than and end, however, since cutting angle and fulcrum are relevant to all tools, even scrapers. New Thompson Deep Bottom Bowl Gauge w/ Homemade Handle
By: Getting0Done

I ended up buying a new bottom gauge and test driving it for a while with local people I turn wood with. I didn't want a Thompson handle though and the Oneway adapters are not big enough. So, the best route (and the cheapest) was doing it this way. That way I can have a handle that is perfect for finishing cuts, comfortable and is long enough to reach way in there for those tricky spots and stay in control.

How I Sharpen an Asymmetric Grind Bowl Gouge
By: Jake Gevorgian
April 14, 2012 · 6,267 views

Sharpening an asymmetric bevel grind bowl gouge. The idea is to have a 60 degree angle on one side and 45 degrees on the other. This is not too accurate, because it's done free hand. Also, this is quite different to turn. You've couple of gouges in one tool, so each angle will work differently. This tool has an accent, just like yours truly. My accent comes from knowledge and daily use of three different languages. Therefore, having multiple angles, this tool has a getting used to.

Traditional grind cut
By: Bob Hamilton
May 24, 2009 · 4,708 views

This video is an attempt to answer Brendan's question about which wing I was cutting with when using my traditional grind gouge in the triangle tea light video. There is an abrupt cut where I have edited together two attempts to demonstrate the technique I use. This is the only grind I used for the first 10 or 12 years I was turning, before I got a Wolverine jig and Varigrind that allowed me to consistently produce a side grind on my gouges. In many situations I am still more comfortable with the traditional grind.

Designed with simplicity and versatility in mind, the Rockler Finishing Sprayer is the ideal solution for anyone wanting a smooth, professional-quality finish in very little time. It is capable of applying anything from lacquer finishes, varnishes and urethanes to unthinned latex paints. Thanks to Earlex® high-volume, low-pressure technology (HVLP), it does so with minimal overspray. The spray pattern is adjustable from 1'' to 12'' wide so you can tailor the output to your needs. The 13' flexible hose provides enough length so you can move around your project, while the 1 qt. paint cup provides plenty of capacity without excessive weight. 1.5mm and 2.5mm needles are included, along with complete instructions for operation and cleaning.
