Coming Next - The Jig Build
By: Blind Woodturner
April 14, 2018 · 128 views

Coming next Friday - The Jig Build to allow me to do power routing on woodturning projects. *** Join me, Chris Fisher, the Blind Wood Turner, in my workshop. I started out in life as a regular guy, working in auto body repair at BMW, until one day, completely out of the blue, a rare virus (Toxoplasmosis) reared its ugly head and caused me to lose my sight in a matter of weeks. Despite the challenges of coming to terms with losing my sight, I refused to give up and, after four years I decided to take up woodturning so that I could make myself a vampire stake – I’m a huge horror film fan! Introducing the Accu Wedge Segmenting Jig for the Bandsaw
By: SIS Woodworking
May 31, 2017 · 1,420 views

A new device called the Accu-Wedge has been developed to enable the cutting of segmenting wedges on the band saw. The wedges for segmented bowls can now be cut on the band saw, resulting in less wasted wood and a much safer method than using a table saw. The Accu-Wedge uses the double fence method for cutting the wedges, but it incorporates an auto indexing system that does not require wedgies or angles. This jig will be called the Accu-Wedge and the prototype version will be demonstrated at the AAW meeting in Kansas City on June 23-25, 2017. The Accu-Wedge is constructed from a 5/16 inch

ToolMake16: A Reamer to make Mallet Head Holes, Willem's Woodnotes
By: Willem Kossen
July 25, 2016 · 1,032 views

Tapered Flat Reamer to make a Mallet, ToolMake16 Challenge Entry Time for another challenge, ToolMake16 by Mitch Peacock. My entry this year is a tapered reamer with which i use in making a small Mallet. There are many ways to make a mallet. Two part mallets have a separate head and handle. The usual way to add a handle to a mallet (same with hammers and axes etc) is to have the handle and the hole in the mallet tapered. how to make a tapered hole efficiently? well, that is what i made the reamer for. This is a proof of concept small flat reamer to make small tapered holes for small mallets.

Quick and Easy Pen Blank Drilling Jig
By: Barry's Workshop
January 14, 2016 · 11,147 views

This is a quick project that I made to hold pen blanks while drilling them for woodturning. I wanted something that was quick and easy to use, but would consistently hold the blanks securely in place with one hand while I operate the drill press with the other hand. This Drilling Jig was made with a scrap piece of construction grade lumber and a cheap butt hinge. I turned the handles on the wood lathe with a skew chisel. music by audionautix.com Subscribe: http://www.youtube.com/subscription_center?add_user UCYrXvMdKbXYtONur3rnRHcg

Review of the Iron Fire Indexing Jig for your lathe

Welcome back This week I am taking a look at a new indexing system I bought for my Delta 12' lathe. The index system built into my , is a 24 pinned stop system I had gotten an email from my local woodworking supply store about another type of indexing system that would add even more choices of stops. The jig is made by Iron Fire Innovations in the US. Their website is www.ironfirellc.com Check their website for all the jigs they make and other details. What you get when you buy the jig is a quality plastic disc, a metal pin to use as your new index pin and the instructions on how to use

Pen Blank Cutting Jig
By: RJBWoodTurner
September 03, 2015 · 10,096 views

I'm always looking for ways to speed up slow processes in my shop. I recently needed to make a large number of blanks and decided to eliminate the process of marking the tube lengths on the blanks. I modified an older jig with markings and a stop block to allow me to cut blank after blank to the perfect length without having to size them with a tube. Its a real time saver. Pen Tube Painting Jig
By: RJBWoodTurner
September 22, 2014 · 7,988 views

When you turn acrylic, if the acrylic blanks are somewhat opaque, the brass tube can show through your work spoiling the overall look of the pen. One way to improve the look of the pen it to paint the tube a similar color to the blank prior to gluing it into the blank. I needed a way to hold a pen tube while I applied acrylic paint to it. This is a down and dirty jig I made to help me accomplish that task. It allows me to paint the entire tube, leaving no finger prints, and allow it to dry without messing up the paint job. Lathe Stock Centering Jig
By: RJBWoodTurner
April 24, 2014 · 6,863 views

I needed a jig to help me properly center both round and square stock on my lathe. Occasionally when driving the spur center into stock, the stock will split. I also want to attempt inside out turning and the first step involves taping pieces together to shape the inside of the pieces then flipping them around and gluing them up for the final turning. there is no way that I could drive a spur center into pieces that are taped together and expect the tape to hold. This simple jig makes using a spur center for inside out turning possible. It also guarantees perfectly centered pieces every time.
