Alignment of the Band Saw to Assure Optimum Performance of the Accu-Slice System
By: SIS Woodworking
February 17, 2018 · 411 views

It is important that the band saw blade is parallel to the miter bar slot on the band saw table to assure the optimum performance of the Accu-Slice system and avoid band saw blade drift. This video describes two methods to verify the alignment of the bands saw blade to miter bar slot and make recommendations on how to resolve the problem.

A Study of the Parameters Affecting the Burr on Wedges using the Accu-Wedge
By: SIS Woodworking
February 15, 2018 · 380 views

This is a study of the various band saw and Accu-Wedge parameters that might have an effect on the size of the burr that occurs on segmented wedges when they are cut on the band saw. We studied the band saw blades, blade tension, band saw blade guides, various types of wood, the speed of cutting and the mounting of the Accu-Slice in an attempt to see if any of these parameters had an effect on the size of the burr. The study determined that all of these factors had little effect on the size of the burr. The only parameter that had a minor effect was the angle of the cut on the band saw.

Accu-Slice Tip - Quick Change Sacrificial Fence for the Accu-Slice Carriage
By: SIS Woodworking
January 20, 2018 · 548 views

A quick change sacrificial fence for the Accu-Slice System is described. This tip was inspired by Terry Tjaden. The sacrificial fence is fitted with screw inserts which permits the quick change of the sacrificial fence. The sacrificial fences are then attached to the carriage with thumb screws. By enabling the quick change of sacrificial fences with the boards to be sliced attached, a much more efficient use of segmented rings and wood can be achieved.

November 24, 2017 · 32,878 views

Based on his series of popular Record Power sponsored masterclasses at numerous major woodworking exhibitions over the years, Alan Holtham explains why the bandsaw is his favourite machine in the workshop, highlights the versatility of the bandsaw and the benefits of ownership. In this video Alan explodes a few myths about bandsaws and in a clear and logical way sets about showing how easy and safe it can be to choose a machine, set it up, choose the correct blades, maintain the machine properly and most importantly make many varieties of cuts, from wafer thin veneers, to tenons, curves and circles in deep material. This video is ideal for any bandsaw owner or new woodworker wanting to get the best from their machine as most of the principles covered are general to all bandsaws. It is also essential for anyone thinking about buying a bandsaw for the first time.

Band Saw Laser Beam for Projecting the Band saw Blade Path
By: SIS Woodworking
August 01, 2017 · 1,409 views

The Band Saw Laser Beam is an attachment for the band saw to project a red laser line onto the board that is being cut. The Band Saw Laser system mounts to the top wheel housing of the band saw with magnets. After alignment, a laser beam line is projected onto the band saw blade teeth and then projected onto the exact path of the band saw blade cut. By projecting the laser onto the exact path of the band saw blade you can accurately cut your boards to the required dimensions. This is particularly helpful when using the Accu-Wedge segmenting system and the Accu-Slot Celtic Ring System. The Band Saw Laser is an additional safety feature for the band saw because it enables the operator to know exactly where the band saw blade will cut, and he can take additional precautions to keep the hands and fingers far removed for the band saw blade path.

Accu Slice - Resawing and Cutting Wide Boards
By: SIS Woodworking
January 15, 2017 · 4,366 views

Resawing and slicing thin sections of wood boards up to 12' wide utilizing the Accu-Slice band saw accessory. Slices as thin as 0.010' thick can be sliced from 12' wide boards with an accuracy of 0.002' in thickness on all the edges of the sliced board. The sliced pboards are straight and all edges and surfaces are parallel. In addition the sliced board surface is much smoother than conventional wood resawing on the band saw requiring no plaining and minimal sanding of the board surfaces. In addition blade drift is eliminated since the wood being sliced is mounted to the Accu-Slice fence. This technique is used in producing thin veneers, matched book panels and other thin slices of wood. Also a comparison of different band saw blades to compare the finished resulting from these various band saw blades.

No Bandsaw? No Problem!
By: Brian Havens
March 13, 2016 · 76,664 views

Most woodturners will cut half-logs into rounds on the bandsaw before mounting it onto the lathe, and for production turners the time saved in doing so is a must—and the money saved would even pay for bandsaw. But for the hobbyists who cannot afford the space or budget for a bandsaw, that should not keep you from taking advantage of all the free wood from local trees that are cut down. See how a special roughing cut (that I call a 'pivoting cut') can make quick work of rounding out half logs directly on the lathe.

Woodturning Bandsaw Jig Keeps Fingers For Another Day

September 24, 2015 · 6,688 views

http://www.AsWoodTurns.com In last week's video, I showed a bandsaw jig that I used to safely saw a vase. At first, I thought that it was too simple to do a video on but then I reconsidered due to how dangerous a bandsaw can be. So for a bit of bandsaw safety, here it is. BTW, if you need a 1.25' x 8 tpi bolt and nut, search for A193B7. Mine came from FMW Fasteners. Good turning. Enter your email at http://www.AsWoodTurns.com & I'll let you know when the next easy woodturning project video is ready. Blog: http://www.AsWoodTurns.com FB: http://www.Facebook.com/AsWoodTurns

Turning a zero tolerance insert plate for my bandsaw, in an attempt to improve its cut. I will do a more in depth video on the bandsaw and its issues at a later date. I forgot to film the final fit but its nicely flush but could have been a bit snugger on its fit. It can jam when finer shavings get into it. It has made a minor improvement to the cleanest of the cut and i'm sure acts as another barring surface to help keep the blade from wandering. Follow up video of my journey to a good cut on this bandsaw is here https://youtu.be/bSyWqJ5_U8Y Music: http://www.purple-planet.com

Axcaliber Premium Bandsaw Blades 2,552mm
By: Axminster Tools & Machinery
December 22, 2011 · 3,288 views

This blade material is specially constructed by electron beam welding an M42 high speed steel strip to a high strength spring steel alloy backing material. The teeth are milled into the HSS strip resulting in a long life, fatigue resistant blade with HSS tooth tips. The resistance to heat, abrasion and vibration allows faster cutting rates over a wide range of materials. Vari-pitch tooth profile is used for a wider range of cross sectional sizes and to reduce noise and vibration. Very little risk of damage due to accidendal nail impact make these blades ideal for use on reclaimed timbers. Cut all types of timbers extremely well, especially man made boards where the glue has very little effect on the blades' life.
