#39 How to Repair a Broken Lathe With Duct Tape - Level: Wood Wizard ·
By: Austringer Creations
September 22, 2017 · 207 views

I got a catch while turning a 12' poplar bowl on my HF wood lathe and the head broke completely off the bed. How does a humble wood butcher with limited funds make repairs?... DUCT TAPE of course!!!! Actually, the repair was quite simple, the clamping system for the rotating lathe head uses a small rolled pin in a high-stress location and the catch cause the pin to shear in half allowing the clamp to open up and the head departed the bed. I just replaced it with a 4mm stainless steel screw and reassembled the lathe. Gooder 'n new!

Using Wax Paper as a Woodworking Tool Lubricant ·
By: WoodWorkers Guild Of America
January 25, 2017 · 3,744 views

Let’s face it; woodworking is more fun and satisfying when your tools are well-maintained and in good working condition when you go to use them. Many wood-shop tips suggest that one of the more important and yet commonly overlooked aspects of tool maintenance is to apply a tool lubricant to parts that maintain contact with your work piece as the tool is used. When it comes to choosing a good tool lubricant to use for this purpose there are many options to choose from. Some woodworkers use car wax as a tool lubricant, which is a proven product for protecting against moisture, and most woodworke

TGIF Shop Update #002 - Maintenance on Threads ·

October 09, 2014 · 478 views

Ever once in a while you encounter the problem, that you can't tighten the banjo enough to keep it stable on your lathe bed. It's also hard to turn a nut on a bolt. You might not be able to fix this problem by lubricating the threads, because the reason for the problem lies in between the threads! You got some compressed sawdust. I show you my way to fix the problem and how to use a lubricant on bolts. For the ones who got a similar lathe or tool like mine, please feel free to ask any questions, regarding tool maintenance. I'll try to answer, either in a comment or in a new video. Music Funkorama by Kevin McLeod, http://www.incompetech.com Lizenz Creative Commons 3.0 http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/deed.de

Easy wood lathe riser blocks ·
By: Rebel Turner
July 13, 2014 · 4,239 views

Easy wood riser blocks and a few other adjustments allow you to turn a 16' bowl on a 12' lathe this project would cost under 20 dollars and doable in a couple of hours. This could possibly be the best lathe upgrade you can do but as always follow safety especially when you are modifying a piece of equipment from the way it was designed by the manufactures' specifications. The use of a reduction gear is a must before you can turn a large piece on this lathe as the smallest speed on it was too fast even for the largest it was capable of turning. Enjoy.
