unboxing and shout-out of got wood LLC here is there links to find them on all there social media and web sites. Since putting up the video I have learned that it is a family business started in 2005 by two brothers and are now (as of 2018) are up to two employees. Small businesses like these use to be the back bone of the US and things need to change to take it back that way. I'm not saying buy from them I'm saying try to find better prices and customer service anywhere else on the web (I haven't). https://www.facebook.com/gotwoodturning/ http://instagram.com/gotwoodllc/ https://www.turningblanks.net

Kamikaze Oak Lathe Killer
By: Austringer Creations
January 16, 2017 · 518 views

This is why you should always ensure that your bowl blank is solid. The lathe was on the slowest speed setting and the stock was cutting good right up until it exploded. Fortunately I wasn't standing in the line of fire and was wearing a face shield even though the broken wood flew toward the wall behind my lathe. The damage to the lathe looks worse than it actually is; the force sheared the rolled pin holding the rod that secures the lathe head to the bed and should be a quick and easy repair. I think I'll stay away from spalted wood for a while, I do have much better blanks on hand but was intrigued by this piece of crotch oak that seemed to be fairly solid when I ripped it with my chainsaw. Not so much.

Short Log Turning Blanks
By: Brian Havens
August 22, 2016 · 51,189 views

Ideally, a log should be cut the same length (or a little longer) as it is in diameter in order to get the largest form possible from the log. However, sometimes you get what you get, and that means you get a log that is cut shorter than the diameter of the log. Not to fret; there are a couple of options for cutting short logs into turning blanks.

In this episode, I take a beech bowl blank and turn it into a shallow bowl. *** Join me, Chris Fisher, the Blind Wood Turner, in my workshop. I started out in life as a regular guy, working in auto body repair at BMW, until one day, completely out of the blue, a rare virus (Toxoplasmosis) reared its ugly head and caused me to lose my sight in a matter of weeks. Despite the challenges of coming to terms with losing my sight, I refused to give up and, after four years I decided to take up woodturning so that I could make myself a vampire stake – I’m a huge horror film fan! Chainsaw faceting with Aaron Hammer: Making circles with a chainsaw
By: Aaron Hammer
May 30, 2013 · 13,485 views

I developed this technique to facet large diameter bowl blanks with a chainsaw for several reasons. The bowl blank is mounted on the lathe with a faceplate in the exact place it will be turned from. Using the chainsaw as a fixed chopsaw and rotating the wood using the indexing head on the headstock to lock it into 24 equally spaced positions gives me a very true circumference. This allows me to rough out the piece very quickly, starting with higher speeds due to it's good balance and the the cuts can be made quickly and easily removing 1/4 inch to achieve a completely true surface. Often when doing this I will cut 2 or 3 rows of facets on the backside of the bowl removing significant amounts of wood concentrically with the chainsaw instead of a turning gouge.

2 Bowl Blanks Get Wood Turned Into Large Segmented Vessel Part2/2
By: Getting0Done
February 06, 2012 · 39,682 views

Small bowls can get boring quite fast but I am reluctant to stop turning them. So with a little imagination, two ordinary small bowls turn into one vessel. From bottom to top: ziricote, walnut blank, ziricote, zebrawood and ziricote accent ring, another ring of ziricote, the top walnut blank, a trim ring consisting of maple and walnut veneer stacked and segmented, and finally ziricote sapwood. I think it turned out amazing as I was quite reluctant half way through, first time trying veneer in a bowl and it payed off. If you missed part one click the annotation in the video or down below. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v gF_8YjuL5KE&feature plcp&context C310dd7fUDOEgsToPDskLehhxwTI4zMh-DET4entjL Hope you guys enjoy it and please comment, rate and subscribe for more videos to come.

Managed to obtain a lot of Western Canadian Walnut that I seasoned and turned some rough blanks out of. Months later this is the result of one of those blanks, it isn't as dark as most walnuts but turned out nice regardless. I am hoping to do a narrated video on my homemade wood lathe once I figure a few camera things out first so stay tuned for more to come. Please rate, comment and subscribe!

No Chuck Bowl Segment 1 - Mounting the blank
By: Bob Hamilton
April 01, 2009 · 38,042 views

This is a companion video for the pictorial article on my website ( http://bobhamswwing.com/my_woodworking.htm ), demonstrating one of the many possibilities for mounting and turning a bowl blank on a wood lathe without using a chuck. Despite chopping out quite a bit of the repetitive sanding sequences the series still rungs to 13 segments with a run time of more than an hour and a half. It pretty much had to be a 'one take' series since I couldn't put the wood back on the bowl if the recording proved faulty, but it turned out fairly well in that regard right up until the final few minutes.
