Take a Bite from an Apple -- Extreme Off-Center-Turning
By: PeteTGIF
March 30, 2018 · 304 views

Extreme off center turning. The question 'What came first, the Apple or the Bite' is finally answered with this wood turning project! Here I'm turning a bite into two blanks which became later the blanks for some apples. This extreme off center turning isn't as easy as it looks in the first place. To all the ones feeling comfortable enough to try it on their own: TAKE IT SLOW! A small bit every time and don't let your lathe run too fast. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- My last week's video about how I turned an apple: https://youtu.be/R3foD58uP

I needed to do this to feel secure about next weeks project. Small Apple - Episode 108
By: Paul Lockwood
January 23, 2018 · 450 views

This is the second part to follow on from the Pen Bowl that I made in the last Video. Many years ago back in 1997 when I got married, we received a gift from Pastor Leslie Howson (my sister-inlaws father inlaw). He had made us a small bowl filled with wooden Apples. Not really knowing, this probably planted the seen for me to take up wood turning nearly 20 years later. The wood was zebrano, which is the first time I've turned a piece. Not keen on doing more as the smell from this peace was not pleasant. Sanded to 400 grit, finished with a spray varnish and finally buffed up on a buffing wheel. So this was my take on how I would make the Apple to go in the bowl. Please Subscribe http://www.youtube.com/channel/UCJmcpalJi_xzP_iV3uXJj2w?sub_confirmation 1

#29 A Pear Made Out of Ash With a Copper Inlay
By: Andrew Whale
August 01, 2017 · 1,496 views

A Pear Made out of Ash With a Copper Inlay Hi This is my first attempt at making a pear out of a piece of Ash. I wanted to make a feature out of the knot, so I decided to fill the gap around it with copper. This is the first project that I hoped everything would go pear shaped - and it did! I also avoided having to make a jam chuck. I'm not sure whether the some of the methods I used are established ones, but it worked out OK for me in the end. However, please do not copy me without doing your own risk assessments! You are responsible for your safety - not me! I hope you like the Pear and

This is my very first piece I hollowed out. Starting out with an seemingly unspectacular piece of Apple from our own property. Tried a few tools for hollowing I have at home, in the end I used a homemade cuter. Roughly 8 inches / 20cm tall and glaslike lacquer finish Das ist meine erste Hohlform überhaupt.

Woodturning an Apple
By: Andrew Whale
October 31, 2016 · 1,596 views

I'm a novice at woodturning, but thought I would have a go at making an apple out of a piece of Ash. It took me a while, but I got there in the end. I haven't mastered the use of spindle gouges (yet), so I tend to use bowl gouges with a fingernail profile which seem to be easier to use, with far fewer catches. The original piece of timber shown in the video was 12 inches long, but I cut this in half before turning. When I attempt my next apple, I'll change my approach a little and use a parting tool to make initial cuts at each end of the apple. I think this would save a lot of time when using the bowl gouge. Happy turning! Disclamer: I do not recommend any of the methods/techniques I use as these could be unsafe. Woodturning is a potentially hazerdous activity and it is your responsibility to use proper methods/techniques and follow appropriate health and safety practices.

I turned this one on the lathe, and dyed it red with Transfast wood dye. To add an extra element of spooky, I used a Lichtenberg figure wood burner from Conestoga Works. It's 5' tall and 3 1/2' in diameter, and made out of Maple.
