A new idea for me. Didn't know these existed until my son-in-law had a co-worker show him a picture in a catalog. They wanted 70! Took awhile to figure out but turned out fine and she loves it! I call it a Yarn Genie. Like and Subscribe if you are so inclined. Thanks for watching! Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/Phils-Woodshop-1470648929819551

Turning Knitting Needles out of Camphor Laurel
By: Fatso's Workshop
March 08, 2018 · 176 views

I've been working on turning knitting needles, so I turned these out of some Camphor Laurel I picked up at last year's Timber and Wood Working show. I'm not convinced that it's the best timber for finer needles like these, it flexes a bit and creates chatter but I managed to get these done. The end knobs are turned out of Silky Oak. I've turned some out of Jarrah prior to this and the shorter fibre and stiffer nature of the harder eucalypts probably makes them more suitable than the Camphor Laurel. I'm knitting up a scarf for my son (his choice of colours) hopefully I'll get it done in time for this winter (I'm not a great knitter) ______ ______ Music: Jim Crow by Cletus Got Shot is licensed under a Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike License. A Woodturners Garden
By: Jerry Paul
April 05, 2016 · 395 views

Not a wood turning video today. I've been a little pre-occupied lately, and haven't been around much, and as spring seems just around the corner, my thoughts have been focused on my garden. Plus, we're down by one computer here at the moment, so I'm time sharing this one with the wife, which doesn't leave me much time for editing. This is just a little walk through of last year's garden. I will have another wood turning project to post pretty soon. Thanks for bearing with me!

Woodturning A Spatula

Most people, when making a spatula, cut the shape of the blade with a band saw. ... I don't have a band saw, so this is how I did it. I admit, this isn't the best way, but it works. (I tried other ways,,,)

This was fun. The video was going to be over 12 minutes, so I decided to shorten it to about 7 and a half by speeding it up. hahahaha My voice sounds ridiculous, but strangely, I like it a little better than my natural voice. LOL I must have been born to be a cartoon.

I am thankful that the Arbutus behaved itself! It is one of those woods that you will find cracks deep inside the wood. There may not be any sign of it on the surface... It just waits there to surprise you! These Muddlers... in addition to having its way with the limes and lemons... are also used on mint and sage... and I would imagine there are a bunch more as well! Sterling strikes me as an All American Boy, and I hope he w

Wood turning #49 Yarn Spike
By: The Tiny Trailer Workshop
February 19, 2014 · 1,567 views

A drift wood plank makes a pleasing appearance for this project. To hold yarn in place while you are knitting or crocheting... this is the answer! Being driftwood it has different characteristics than would a piece from the lumber yard... at least that is what I am claiming that the tear out was from!! Don't forget to check your shavings! Thanks for watching Larry Tyler Carson and Adam Dobres fill the background with music! www.tylercarsonmusic.com

Hello: This is a piece of Spalted Alder that felt like it was supposed to be a Yarn Bowl. This was my first and it was an interesting turn. I was reminded of the Lord of the Rings and the Palindars that they had and thought that if you looked deep into this one you might see what the sweater is going to look like!!? Thanks for watching and don't forget to subscribe... I'll see you next time in the Tiny Trailer Workshop Larry
