turned pistachio nutshell ice cream scoop
By: mrRuben
July 05, 2018 · 303 views

I made the blank with expoy resin and shell of pistachio nuts. It was a challenge to turn, in fact the first one was a failure. The second time I mixed the nutshells with the epoxy before pouring, which led to less air bubbles. I did not use a vacuum chamber or pressure oot, so this is a nice beginner project. #mrRuben #woodturning #resinCasting #pistachio

woodturing a wood kitchen scoop
By: Geiserwoodturner
February 14, 2018 · 1,588 views

This video is about how I make a wood kitchen scoop from a piece of honey locust that has been up-cycled from a tree that went down in a windstorm. I start this project by mounting the wood blank between centers on the wood lathe. Using a spindle roughing gouge I remove the bark and bring it down to round. A dovetail tenon is cut on the end to mount it into a four jaw woodturning chuck. Bring up the live center to make sure you stay on center before you tighten the chuck. It's best to think of this project as a series of steps. The first step is to shape the outside of the scoop portio

Wood Turning an Ice Cream Scoop Handle using a Hybrid Burl Blank
By: Turning Round
January 29, 2018 · 345 views

Please Subscribe to my other channel I need some help to Keep that Channel going. https://www.youtube.com/user/RedJeepClub In this wood Turning video I tackle a handle for an Ice Cream scoop. I start with a very cool blank called a hybrid burl blank. It is made using a piece of Elm Burl that has been stabilized and infused with a green dye and cactus juice resin. This process hardens the wood and gives it an amazing color. Then the wood is cast with a dark blue alumilite resin. The final piece in a combination of elm burl wood and dark blue plastic resin. These blanks are amazing and fun to work with. The Ice Cream scoop is a kit that is available from a local store and provides a big solid Ice cream scoop and will last for a long time.

How to Turn a Traditional Wood Coffee Scoop
By: Mike Peace Woodturning
November 20, 2015 · 43,959 views

I demonstrate making a two piece scoop in this woodturning video tutorial useful for making coffee or for other dry measures. I show how to turn this without the use of a chuck by using double sided turners tape. This is a fun project that can be completed by a novice turner with spindle turning skills but might appeal to woodturners of all skill levels. The completed project is sure to delight the final recipient each time they handle this scoop. You can download a copy of my article on turning two piece coffee scoops published in the August 2011 issue of Woodturning Design from my website: http://mikepeacewoodturning.blogspot.com.

Multi Axis Woodturning All My Scoops
By: As Wood Turns
July 30, 2015 · 2,888 views

http://www.AsWoodTurns.com To complete my video series on wood scoops, I turned this cedar scoop about 7 inches long and 2 inches diameter, finished with beeswax and mineral oil. The turning axes were: 1. The original center of the wood for the scoop. 2. A skewed axis for the handle. 3. The original axis for the end of the handle. One safety note: I used hot melt glue to fasten the scoop to a piece of scrap before sawing the scoop. I did not wnat the round scoop turning at the saw. I love the finished look and feel of these three cedar scoops. I can improve each, I'm sure, but that's for the future. The cedar feels crisp and light and sounds nice when two are gently hit together. Good turning. Woodturning One Scoop After Another
By: As Wood Turns
July 02, 2015 · 6,970 views

http://www.AsWoodTurns.com Recently, I saw Soren Berger turn a scoop. He made it look easy and indeed it is -- after you've completed one. This cedar scoop combines elements of spindle turning, multi-axis turning, and bowl turning. It also includes turning a perfect sphere. A perfect sphere is no problem for me, I have that process down. The difference is that this sphere must be on the end of a handle. I cannot rotate the ball's axis as I can for an independent sphere. Soren marked out first for a octagon, then rounded it over for a ball. However, he used his single purpose caliper to make c

Turning a Wooden Scoop

In this video I'm turning a wood into a scoop, spoon. These are the methods I use, since I don't have a set of profiled Jaws. At the stage where I'm hollowing the scoop part, I'm using very minimal speed. I did not exceed 500 rpm. Please watch out, and don't try these methods unless you know the outcomes of it. This is an extremely dangerous turning. This is NOT an instruction.
