There are many ways to make necklaces on the lathe. We like this one because it's a two-part project where part 1 turns the outer shape and part 2 turns a little hole to attach the necklace string or chain. So, it's entirely a turning project.
It's also interesting because this turning is mounted to the lathe with double-sided tape. I'm a big fan of (good) double-sided tape for small projects. It's easy to use and makes the project very quick.

In this detailed photo tutorial, Francois shows us how he makes a custom sized wood ring on the lathe. He uses a veneer inlay to provide beauty by creating contrast to the ring basis wood. It also strengthens the ring sufficiently that he can not break them between his fingers!
