How about some long spindle turning? Beds often had spindles on all four corners. They could have been waist-height or they could have been ceiling height. Making a bed is making a heirloom!
This is a set of plans to make a four poster bed. The plans have traceable diagrams and the bed can be sized to fit twin, full or queen mattresses.
The four corner posts must be turned and the foot cross bar is turned too! This is a very nice design and although you have to pay for it, it's really inexpensive!!
