Mike Darlow has published a series of wonderful turning books. They are mostly educationally-based and are one of the best resources available for turners. In them, Mike shows how to make this fishing reel.
This fishing reel is a self-contained fishing setup so no pole is required. This would be wonderful for fishing in the local pond or stream. With it's small size, it would work well as a in-car or in-backpack unit.
